Now how much would you pay?
My wife Avril channeled her war jitters into converting our '88 Taurus wagon into a peacemobile, which she then took on a 3,000 mile journey to Canada. (Approximately 1,000 of those miles were the result of being lost.) The trip ended with the tranny failing on the Golden Gate Bridge, just within towing distance of home. It was quite a trip.
She was a little bit different, but nothing overt
A different walk and a different skirt
A different way of chewing her gum
But nothing like the different that was yet to come
When she bought some paint and then she bought some glue
And stayed up late for a month or two
In the garage she tinkered away
And when she finally did emerge one day
Chorus:
She had an art car,
And she's wearing her heart on the outside
Of her art car,
And she's taking her joy for a ride
She painted it purple to go with her toes
Covered the fenders with toy animals
Filled it with flowers and rainbows and trees
All of her favorite imagery
Now she's packing it up with a couple of kids
A 3 legged dog and some plastic squids
Goin' on a road trip up to the sun
And soaking it all up in a parade of one
Bridge:
Art car driver, drives a little slower
And art car driver everybody know her
Spoken:
Hey, isn't that that girl in that art car? Yeah, that car's rad!
She got a thousand waves, a thousand smiles
Two thumbs up every mile
hundreds of pictures, points and guffaws
dropping of groceries and jaws
And she and her kids and her dog wave back,
And never get tired of all the feedback
And she never forgets to stop and go wow
She was once on the edge but she's over it now
Tag: and she's gluing her heart to the outside…
